Is my child the right age to play?
Children age 3 to 12 are eligible to play, as long as they live or go to school in the catchment area.
My child doesn’t live or attend school in the National Little League catchment area. Can they still play ball with National?
Yes, even if you are from outside the catchment area, you are still eligible to join us if your child used to play here, if your child has a sibling who plays here, or if you get permission from the league that your child would normally play in based on your residence (find it here).
How much does registration cost?
Registration for the 2026 spring season is $90 for Blastball up to $300 for Majors, registration fee depend on the division. For more information, check our registration page.
What other expenses can I expect to pay?
At a minimum, your child will need a baseball glove and batting helmet. Prices for both vary widely. You can find a good second-hand glove for as little as $10 at thrift stores in the off-season. Players in mini minors and up will also need a pelvic protector (jock or jill), about $20 each at most sporting goods stores. All players will need long athletic pants (shorts are not allowed). Players in rookie minors and up require grey baseball pants for games.
Bats and catchers gear are provided for use during practices and games.
When is baseball season?
Spring baseball season starts at the end of March / beginning of April and finishes at the end of June. Optional tournaments for children 8 and over can run into July.
We also offer fall ball that runs from the beginning of September to the middle of October, and occasional skills clinics at other times during the year.
What is expected from me as a parent?
Parent involvement varies by division. Blastball and TeeBall require parents to be actively participating during the sessions with their child. Mini Minors parents will still need to be present at each session but can be a bit more hands off with direct player involvement but may need to help during drills at practice, or field prep for games. Beginning in Rookie Minors, parents are expected to assist with required volunteer duties for each game, and may still need to assist with some drills at practices. This continues through Minors and Majors, though if you do not have an assignment for a specific game, you minimally need to get your child to the event. More details are provided by team or division coordinators at the start of the season.
Is baseball co-ed?
Yes, everyone is welcome to play.
Do you have a girls’ softball league?
Unfortunately we are not offering softball at this time. You can check out our neighbouring park who is offering softball at https://beaconhillball.com/softball/
My child is almost 12 years old, but is new to baseball. Is that OK?
Yes, it is OK for older children without experience to join! When we form the teams, we will place your child with other children of similar age and skill so that everybody has a good time.
How often are games/practices during the spring season? What if my child has other commitments?
Blastball: 1 session per week on Sunday mornings
Tee Ball: 1 game per week on Saturday mornings; 1 weeknight practice, either Monday or Tuesday night from 5:30 – 6:30pm
Mini Minors: 1 game per week on Sunday mornings; 1 weeknight practice on Wednesday
Rookie Minors: 1 game per week typically Saturday or Sunday; 2 weeknight practices
Minors: 1 to 2 games per week typically on the weekend but there may be the occasional weeknight games; 2 practices per week
Majors: 2 games per week typically on the weekend but there may be the occasional weeknight games; 2 practices per week
How Can I request my child be with a friend/on a specific team?
Friend requests are very popular, and of course kids want to play with their friends.
Blastball, TeeBall, Mini Minors: You can request on your registration one (1) to two (2) friends your child would like to be on a team with, or a specific coach. We will do our very best to accommodate them, however requests cannot always be granted in full (ex. might only be on a team with one of the two friends requested)
Rookie Minors, Minors: You can request on your registration one (1) friend your child would like to be on a team with, or a specific coach. However, the teams are formed based on an assessment of skills and maturity level, and requests may not be able to be accommodated. National wants to ensure teams are balanced and kids are playing in the correct division to ensure safety and success.
Majors: Friend requests are not accepted for this division. The teams are formed through draft and based on an assessment of skills and maturity level. National wants to ensure teams are balanced and kids are playing at a level to ensure safety and success.
Also, new this year Beacon Hill, National, and Hampton are partnering to offer a combined Intermediate program for players who will be league age 13
When is the game and practice schedule complete?
Late March/beginning of April. The game schedule is created once we have completed registration and we know how many teams we will have. This is a complex task that requires our park scheduler to ensure there are no conflicts and our teams have a balance of home and away games. For our divisions that play other Little League parks (Rookie Minors, Minors, and Majors), there is an added layer of complexity to work around the other park schedules. The practice schedule is developed in consultation with our volunteer coaches to ensure the schedule works for them. Coaches will inform their players of the game and practice schedule directly as soon as it’s completed.
