A Tournament Team (or “All Stars”) from this division may enter the Provincial Tournament at the end of the season.

Who can play?

• “League Age” 8 – 11 year olds
• Other ages may play up or down as appropriate
• New and experienced players are welcome
• Players are selected through mandatory assessments to ensure teams have balanced skill levels

What is included?

• A hat and t-shirt style jersey that players get to keep!
• A team/individual photo
• Use of basic playing equipment (bats, catchers gear)

What is needed?

• Jock/Jill (groin protection)
• Glove
• Grey baseball pants
• Cleats
• A batting helmet

Other recommended items include: batting gloves.

Parent Expectations

Parents are expected to help with the following:

• Field setup and takedown
• Scorekeeping (one scorekeeper from each team is required for a game to be played)
• Volunteering in the concession
• Helping the coach: Dugout manager or base coach during games; first baseman, catcher etc. during practices

The team’s head coach will ask for volunteers and set up a parent volunteer schedule.

Team Schedule

Games:

• 2 per week played against other National teams and Little Leagues throughout Greater Victoria (Beacon Hill, Central Saanich, Hampton, Lakehill, and Layritz)

Practices:

• 1 – 2 per week as set by the head coach

Minors Team Formation

At National Little League, we are committed to providing a positive and fair experience for all of our players. Our goal in team formation is to create balanced teams that promote fair play, healthy competition, and the development of each young athlete.

We understand that team placement can be a sensitive issue, and we are committed to forming balanced teams that promote fair play and sportsmanship. To achieve this, we consider the following factors:

• Player Skill Levels – We conduct assessments to evaluate players’ skills, ensuring a balanced mix within each team to promote healthy competition and development.

• Friendship Requests – While we no longer accommodate friend requests at the Minors level due to the difficulty this poses for team balance, some consideration may be given in special circumstances to foster a positive environment and are considered on an individual basis. However, these requests are weighed against skill levels to maintain fairness.

• Coaching Groups – When coaches request to volunteer as a group to coach the same team we will do our best to accomodate the request as long as pairing their children on the same team still promotes balanced teams. These requests are weighed against skill levels of the players to maintain fairness.

Our team formation process aims to provide every player with the opportunity to enjoy the game, develop their skills, and have fun in a balanced, competitive environment.
