Registration Open!

Registration for National’s Spring (April to June) Season is now open.

It is helpful to register as soon as possible, so we can start mapping out coaches and start to form teams.
Unfortunately, we are unable to confirm/determine practice and game schedules until registration is complete, as it depends on field approvals, how many kids register, how many teams we have, the schedule for interlock games (Rookies, Minors and Majors only) and most importantly how many people volunteered to coach and assistant coach.

Here’s a link to frequently asked questions, https://nationallittleleague.org/registration/faq/.

Blastball: 1 session per week on Sunday mornings held at Oaklands Park; One session from 9:00 – 9:45 and the other from 10:00 – 10:45am
Tee Ball: 1 game per week on Saturday mornings; 1 weeknight practice, either Monday or Tuesday night from 5:00 – 6:00pm (Please use the comment field when registering to indicate if you can’t do one of the nights).
Mini Minors: 1 game per week on Sunday mornings; 1 weeknight practice on Wednesday from 5:00 – 6:00pm
Rookie Minors: 1 games per week on Sunday afternoons; 2 weeknight practices on Tuesday and Thursday
Minors: 1 to 2 games per week possibly either one week night (Tuesday?) and Saturday or both; 2 practices on Monday and Wednesday night
Majors: 2 games per week possibly Friday evening and Sunday morning; 2 practices on Tuesday and Thursday nightFriend Requests are very popular and we do our very best to accommodate them especially for Blastball through Mini Minors. Once you move into Rookie Minors, Minors and Majors the teams are formed based on an assessment of skills and maturity level. National wants to ensure teams are balanced and kids are playing at a level to ensure safety and success.
Also, new this year Beacon Hill, National, and Hampton are partnering to offer a combined Intermediate program for players who will be league age 13, as well as keen 11- and 12-year-olds who are registered with their home park for Majors baseball. In the Intermediate division, players are introduced to leadoffs and a slightly larger playing field. Pitchers throw from a 50’ pitching rubber and the base paths are 70’. The field location is at Hampton Little League. There will be one game per week on Sunday evenings.
We are looking for coaches and assistant coaches for all ages, no experience necessary. We will hold a coaches meeting, free clinic and provide resources. The more we have the easier it is!

The current public health order (PHO)confirms it remains safe for all activities that would typically take place in a sports environment (other than tournaments) to continue. This includes our indoor player development clinics. We will continue to follow the PHO and ViaSport and update our return to play plan accordingly.

Remembering Gordon Lee

A somber day as we learned of some sad news, the passing of legendary Victoria sports photographer Gordon Lee, who did many of our Little League photos for the last several years. Even this past summer when Gordon was not well he still found time to come out and take photos as his service and love for his work was unparalleled. Gordon was a true professional and someone who will always be remembered. We are very thankful for Gordon and people alike who dedicate themselves to helping make Victoria a great place for youth sports, leaving behind a legacy that will never be forgotten. Gordon’s legacy will live on through the precious memories he has captured over his decades of service in Victoria, and also through his kind, humble, and professional demeanor.

Victoria Breakers Youth Baseball Club

Registration Open!

Check out the Breakers website at: breakersbaseballclub.com

The Breakers Youth Baseball Club is an independent not for profit society that is aimed at players 13-17. We will be practicing twice a week beginning September 17th and finishing our winter activities March 25th. It is our hope at this time that players will have had the off season to look at the best age appropriate options to play at, whether that be with a little league program or a B.C. Ball program. Where players go isn’t important, what is important is that they continue to play! We feel that by eliminating the pressure of joining a team for the spring in the winter months, but instead taking time to look into the best options while getting some off season skill development is a more reasonable low pressure way to practice and have some fun during the off season.

Our practices will be twice a week. Fridays we will practice at George Jay Elementary School Gym 6:00-8:30pm and Sundays we will practice at Vic West field 2:00-4:00pm. Indoor practices will focus on skill development for throwing and fielding, there is a lot that can be worked on in a small space that when you get out onto the field is really helpful to a players game. Outdoor practices will focus on hitting and base running but the throwing and fielding we work on indoors will be practiced as well. There will also be options for pitchers to practice with Coach Don Moore and anyone wishing to do some catcher training can do so but you need to have your own gear due to covid restrictions.

Registration is $200.00 for just over six months of indoor and outdoor training twice a week and includes a hat and dri-fit.

COVID-19 Update

National’s BOD has taken two steps to respond to the pandemic for spring / summer 2020.

  1. 2020 Spring season is cancelled and we are refunding everyone’s registration fee. (We have notified you via email.) Please be patient; we are volunteers with hundreds of refunds to process. Please contact us if you would like to donate your fee instead, or if you have any other issues.
  2. We are offering some socially distant clinics for older children during the months of July and August. You can register separately for that one here.

As always, the safety and health of our players and their families, coaches, volunteers, and the community at large is our number one priority.
